Real Estate License Renewal
A Guide to SAE Requirements
Got your sights set on renewing your Texas real estate license for the first time? Congratulations! Now it’s time to brush up on your skills and knowledge with Sales Apprentice Education (SAE) courses, previously called MCE Courses
Key takeaways:
• Total course hours: Complete a total of 270 qualifying real estate course hours, including the mandatory 30-hour Real Estate Brokerage course starting October 1, 2023.
• Legal updates: Stay informed with 4 hours each of TREC’s Legal Update I and II.
• Supervisor responsibility: If you’re a supervisor, the 6-hour Broker Responsibility course is a must.
• Early bird gets the worm: Submit course completion certificates for courses completed before May 1, 2022, at least 10 days before renewal.
• No duplicates: Remember, you can’t claim credit for similar courses you’ve already taken within two years.
• SAE can’t be deferred: Renewing your license depends on completing these requirements.
Finding the right courses:
Look for approved courses from TREC-licensed instructors or institutions. Remember:
• Verify course approval status directly with TREC for peace of mind.
• Choose courses that align with your interests and learning style for maximum engagement.
Renewing your license is a crucial step in maintaining your career momentum. By understanding the SAE requirements and choosing the right courses, you’ll be well-equipped to tackle the next chapter with confidence and expertise.
For latest requirements, please check TREC website
If you have already completed your Post-License education and are renewing your license, AREC requires you to complete 15 hours of Continuing Education (CE) courses from an approved course provider. CE courses are different than Post-License courses and you can enroll in them by navigating to our CE Packages.
